
The 2022 Australasian Drift Titles Presented By Garrett Advancing Motion was a thrilling afternoon of drifting, as a huge 34-car field duked it out. When it came down to the final four, however, nothing went to plan.
Having qualified 27th Brad Tuohy did a killer job in the Zestino Tyres 86 and came up against Matt Harvey in the quarter-final, but after a close battle managed to get past to land in his first finals appearance.
Luke Fink was on fire all day in his R34 Skyline, and was promising a huge semi-final against the NT’s Pat Barlee in the C6 Corvette but stalled out at the start. This allowed the small-block-powered C6 ‘Vette to line up again Tuohy in the final.
Matt Harvey in the 2J S13 Silvia was to battle Fink for third, but in a dramatic turn Fink didn’t front for the semi and Harvey had a solo run to finish in the bronze.
Brad Tuohy and Pat Barlee’s final got off to an intense start, as Barlee led away and tipped it into the first corner with huge speed, but over-rotated and collected Tuohy nose-on to give the 86 driver the win.
