The class record for GCG Open class has been broken twice in one day at the 2022 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge!
Mid-way through Saturday Tim Slade in the Xtreme GT-R R32 Skyline ran a 1.27.379, besting Adam Casmiri’s 1.27.562 from 2017 in the JDMYard/Hardrace Honda Civic. Unfortunately the wild Skyline came into the pits with a dropped valve in the cylinder head immediately after that lap.
Then, in the last run of the night Nathan Morcom in the Gas/Royal Purple/Insight Motorsport Mitsubishi Evo VII ran a 1.27.247 to take the GCG Open class record and the class win. Nathan had run several 1.27s through the day, then battled a thrown accessory belt late in the night to come out on the final roll of the dice, and he got the job done!
