Daigo Saito and his 1100HP 2JZ GR86 coming to Sydney!

No Daigo, No Party? Well, Daigo Saito is confirmed for WTAC 2023, and we plan on ONE HELL OF A PARTY!

Widely regarded as one of the top talents in the drifting worldwide, professional Japanese drifter Daigo Saito is the first of several internationals to confirm entry and he is bringing his Monster Energy-backed 1100 horsepower Toyota GR86 that competed in the 2022 Formula Drift Japan season.

Daigo is a multiple D1GP Champion, Formula Drift Asia Champion (2011-2012) Formula Drift USA Champion (2012) and has successfully competed throughout Europe and many other parts of the world.

He has built a reputation for building insane machines and driving them to their limit at each event he participates in – the GR86 he is bringing to Sydney in September will be no different.

The car features a full Fat Five Racing competition-spec build, sporting a monsterous 3.4 litre Nitrous-breathing 2JZ engine, a potent Garrett GTX4298R turbocharger, putting the power through a Samsonas sequential transmission and a Winters quick-change rear end.

“This will be his fourth time competing at the Garrett International Drifting Cup,” said Head of WTAC Drift Operations Dan Mackie “and he never fails to put on a show for the crowd. He has many years of high level competition experience and his cars are always well sorted and extremely high powered which suits the North circuit layout to a tee! He’s excited to come back to reunite with our local talent on track, however he has promised to not hold back and will be gunning for the top prize!”

The 2023 Garrett International Drifting Cup is on both evenings at the Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge Sydney, this September 1st and 2nd. Watch out for our social channels as we plan to announce MANY more international guests for this year’s event!
