The RE Amemiya team was another team out testing at Fuji Speedway last week. The “Hurricane” RX7 was sporting a much more prominent aero kit than the team used previously with a bigger wing, much larger rear diffuser and much bigger front splitter and cannards.
The team struggled with mechanical gremlins on the day and failed to put down a fast time but the car was quickly whisked back to the workshop in Tokyo for a thorough inspection prior to packing up and coming down under in search of the podium finish the team and driver would be so accustomed to achieving.
There was no mistaking the sound of the three rotor engine as it powered around Fuji speedway. These engines have a sound all of their own with a much deeper growl than the twin rotor versions.
With Mad Mike bringing his four rotor RX7 back for the drift and RE Amemiya returning in the Hurricane it looks like every single rotary enthusiast is in for a serious treat at Sydney Motorsport Park in October!
