Ryan Tuerck’s 11,000RPM V10 Formula Supra Confirmed For WTAC 2023

Prepare to be serenaded by the goosebump-inducing sounds of a Formula One-derived Judd V10 revving to 11,000RPM, emanating from Ryan Tuerck’s incredible Toyota GR Supra build, known as the Formula Supra. This phenomenal creation is coming to Sydney, exclusively to the 2023 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge!

Ryan Tuerck is a popular US-based automotive personality as a current Formula Drift competitor for Papadakis Racing in a 1000HP Corolla (yes, a Corolla), and also as the guy who broke the internet with his other dream-spec build, the viral Ferarri-swapped ‘GT-4586’ Toyota 86.

“I am beyond excited to come to Australia for the massive WTAC event. To give it some context, this event is the Super Bowl of time attack across the world. It has been a bucket list event for me and I can’t wait to turn some laps and put some smiles on faces as the Judd V10 is really something special to hear in person,” says Tuerck.

Beginning life as a ‘regular’ GR Supra, Ryan and his team have customised almost every part of this relatively-new platform to stand out from the rest, and have achieved what is arguably the most incredible GR Supra build we may ever see here in Australia.

Pushing a naturally-aspirated 750HP out of the box, the new four-litre Le Mans-spec Judd V10 power unit nearly doubles the horsepower output of the Supra, with only a couple of kilograms gained from the standard BMW B58 motor found in the standard road-going versions. To (over)compensate for this relatively minute increase to the scales, the team have completely overhauled the body to enhance lightness, giving the ten-cylinder screamer the home it deserves.

The Supra chassis has been completely stripped, acid-dipped, seam-welded, caged and a customised HGK Supra-Jet carbon wide-body kit applied. So drenched in carbon this car is, the only remaining original bodywork visible is the steel roof edges near the windows! Without driver, the car tips the scales at around 1,100kg – an incredible 400kg weight saving over the standard listed weight.

Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a Holinger six-speed sequential, although you are guaranteed to hear this car before you see it, and when you do see it, you may blink and miss it! This may be the tuner industry’s hardest working rev limiter as it holds back the motor from spinning itself into its own black hole.

Originally destined as a hillclimb slash time-attack weapon, Ryan’s drift pedigree also ensures this build dances the fine line of grip and slide under his control. He has proven himself as no slouch of a driver, and ensures the WTAC team that he will be giving it his all during the many demonstration sessions during the event. Rumour has it the WTAC team have secured some formidable track-mates for some special demo runs that will blow minds – more to come on this soon!

Millions upon millions around the globe have watched dyno runs and drive-by clips of the Formula Supra in awe, but this is your only chance to witness this greatness in person this September, right here in Sydney!
