Shaun Potroz is a cult figure in New Zealand's drifting scene, with an even larger-than-life reputation within the after-party crowd. It's only fitting that this personality-driven sport welcomes him to the Garrett International Drifting Cup, both nights at World Time Attack Challenge.
A New Zealand Pro Sport champion with multiple podium finishes and regional victories, Potroz is renowned for his fearless driving style honed on the demanding mountain roads of his Taranaki home. Don't be fooled by his laid-back demeanor; behind the wheel, he embodies the "Potroz Effect," a high-speed, no-holds-barred approach to drifting.
His freshly rebuilt S15, prepared by 'Naki locals Smith Industries, is ready for the ultimate test. The car has undergone extensive strengthening to handle the immense power expected from its freshly built 2JZ engine, estimated to produce nearly 1000 horsepower. The engine is controlled by a Link ECU Fury, and a dry sump system has been added for reliability. Upgraded components from BorgWarner, Wisefab, GForce, and Winters round out the build.
This marks Potroz's first international competition, with the team aiming to gain experience before potentially expanding their efforts in 2025.
Shaun would like to thank his family, friends, Link ECU, JJ Motorsport, Stock Street Autos, Hawera Automotive, and countless others for their support. He is seeking partners for this event and can be contacted through social media.
